The traditional trail at Cabrillo National monument is a 2.5 mile roundtrip hike on the Bayside Trail. In early 2024 a new trail, Oceanside Trail, was opened, ascending from the hilltop down to the Oceanside tide-pools. This trail is also a 2.5 mile roundtrip, though it is somewhat more strenuous and is unpaved. You can make your decision as to which trail you want to hike once you get there. We expect some cars to be available to pick up people who do not want to hike back up the new Oceanside Trail, only.
We'll be meeting up at Peet’s Coffee shop (Talbot Street & Catalina Blvd.) in Point Loma between 10am – 10.30am. There is a large parking lot at this coffee shop. Please RSVP HERE so that we know how many participants to expect. AND, please select whether you would like a ride to the Hike start OR you can offer a ride to the Hike start.
A day pass to the Cabrillo National Monument is $10.00 per vehicle (regardless of the number of passengers). In our group there will be people with annual/lifetime passes and you may ask to accompany them in their vehicles at no charge, as we're congregating.
After the hike we will return to Peet’s Coffee to pick up parked cars and depending on how people feel we may go to the Kaiserhof Restaurant at 2253 Sunset Cliffs Blvd., in Point Loma for some apres-hike sustenance.
